Submit applications for Medicaid, SNAP, VA, and other public benefits. This includes establishing an evidentiary record documenting disability and financial eligibility for the various programs.
Respond to inquiries from the Office of the Inspector General for IHFS including collecting and compiling up to five years of financial records.
Complete recertification and redeterminations to maintain the various benefits. This includes establishing an evidentiary record documenting disability and financial eligibility for the various programs.
Prepare and file appeals for denials or termination of benefits, and attend pre-hearing conferences.
Submit applications for Medicare Parts A, B and D, and Medicare supplemental insurance coverage.
Research federal and state regulations and administrative rules regarding the various benefit programs.
Provide advice and support to the attorneys regarding eligibility and coverage issues.
Investigate eligibility and submit applications for private health insurance coverage including retirement benefits and coverage under the Affordable Care Act and other laws.
Attend all status meetings, pooled trust meetings, spenddown meetings, and move meetings.
Communicate with OPG staff regarding approvals and denials of benefits.
Obtain state ID cards for persons under guardianship.
Assist the Director of Policy and Benefits and the Benefits Field Supervisor in presenting trainings to attorneys and case managers and other staff on topics relevant to the department.
