Description

The Chicago office of Cozen O’Connor is seeking an experience litigation paralegal.  The ideal candidate has 3+ years of experience with strong organizational and interpersonal skills.  Trial experience required.  Experience handling personal injury and complex commercial matters preferred.  Comfortable prioritizing and balancing a variety of tasks. Ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced, high intensity environment and is willing to work flexible hours and overtime as needed.  The firm is offering a hybrid work schedule of 3 days in the office, 2 days remote for all paralegals.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Assist attorneys in all stages of litigation
Assist in preparing and filing (including e-filing) of legal documents in state and federal court.
Lead subpoena and third party records retrieval efforts.
Case file management (create, organize, track and maintain files; monitor calendars and meeting deadlines; document actions; input information into file database and case management software).
Document management including but not limited to review of documents, proofreading, bates labeling, organization of documents and compiling information for discovery responses, pleadings, and motions.
Perform factual research and investigation
Draft correspondence and memoranda for attorneys as requested.
Trial preparation and attendance at trial (organizing evidence, preparing exhibits, scheduling witnesses, ensuring that witnesses are ready when needed).
Case management, including advanced working knowledge of E-discovery, including the technical aspects of collecting, reviewing, and producing electronically stored information (state and federal court); experience in Relativity, LiveNote, Case/Time Map, Summation, Adobe Acrobat, and Trial Director a plus. 
Skilled at entering time in systems such as InTapp so that entries are not deducted for vague time entry descriptions or time that is excessive.

A four year bachelor’s degree and/or paralegal certificate is required.
