This position is located in our Chicago office and offers a hybrid remote work opportunity.

Relocation is available in accordance with the firm’s policy.

Paralegals are a critical part of DLA Piper’s client service teams, working side by side with lawyers, co-counsel, and clients on an array of substantive client matters. The majority of our paralegals are career professionals. They work independently and on teams, locally, nationally, and globally.

The Paralegal Team itself includes Case Assistants, Paralegals, Senior Paralegals, and Paralegal Specialists. Minimum Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree and/or a paralegal certificate
6 years’ experience as a paralegal in a legal department or law firm
Strong Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook experience
Experience with legal software such as Relativity, LexisNexis, Westlaw, or similar technology
Knowledge of USPTO procedures
Conducting trademark clearance searches
Knowledge of computerized docketing systems
Strong oral and written communication skills
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
 

Preferred Requirements:

Experience in a large law firm or professional services organization
 

What will your day look like?
Your role will consist of preparing drafts of legal and other documents and correspondence for attorney review. This will include handling assignments and post-registration filings for U.S. registrations, handling U.S. filings for foreign-based clients, and keeping clients apprised of the status of marks. You will also work to complete standard U.S. trademark application filings, and individual or limited group foreign filing programs, including the legalization of documents.
