Legal Assistant/Paralegal

We are looking for a legal assistant for secretarial, general office and administrative work.  The candidate must possess excellent organizational and proofreading skills, attention to detail, ability to draft correspondence, and excellent written and oral communication skills.  The essential job duties for this position include answering phones, data entry, proofreading, file maintenance and the other essential functions set forth below.  



·         Full-time position:

o   Monday-Friday.

o   8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. (37.5 hours weekly).

o   One hour lunch break.

·         Daily tasks may include:

o   Typing, preparing, revising and proofreading documents, forms, correspondence, etc. accurately and within specified timeframes. 

o   Reviewing incoming mail, email and facsimile transmissions.  Preparing outgoing mail, email and faxes, utilizing messenger services and overnight courier if needed. 

o   Maintaining of electronic files (Worldox) and paper files.  Ensuring they are up to date and maintained in accordance with firm standards and procedures.

o   Researching facts, laws and public records.

o   Communicating with attorneys, other professionals and clients.

o   Filing and obtaining records with the courts and government offices (minimal travel may be required).

o   Assisting other departments as needed.



o   At least 1 year experience in a law firm setting.

o   Excellent organizational, proofreading, and written and oral communication skills, both internally amongst colleagues and externally with clients/counsel.

o   Ability to work independently and as a team member as appropriate.

o   Excellent typing and computer skills, with a focus on detail and accuracy.

o   Proficiency in the Microsoft Suite and Adobe (experience with ProCirrus and Worldox is a plus).

o   Minimally must have a high school diploma or GED.



·         Competitive Salary ranging from $47k-$70k/year (based upon experience).
