Job Description

The Law Offices of Helen Bloch, P.C. is seeking a Paralegal/Executive Assistant to work in our downtown Chicago office 25-32 hours per week at $25 per hour, or as a full-time salaried employee. We offer a friendly work environment and are happy to create a mutually beneficial work schedule with an eligible candidate.


Role Responsibilities:
• Interacting with attorneys, clients, insurance adjusters, medical providers, and all levels of personnel in a positive and professional manner;
• Providing friendly and responsive customer service to clientele ranging from business executives and business owners to injured employees in workers’ compensation claims;
• Assisting with daily workflow management including email management, scheduling and calendar management, and file maintenance;
• Drafting, proofreading, and finalizing a variety of documents such as correspondence, demand letters, discovery requests and responses, motions, briefs, contracts, employment agreements, and corporate formation documents;
• Maintaining corporate records for business clients including preparing annual reports;
• Preparing monthly invoices and mailings to clients;
• Drafting news articles and updating the firm’s website; and
• Troubleshooting when computer/technology problems arise in the workplace.


Skills and Requirements:
• Strong ability to problem-solve;
• Excellent organization and careful attention to detail;
• A willingness to learn new areas of the law;
• Flexibility in handling a variety of tasks; for instance, in a single day the role may require e-filing court documents in an employment matter, handling corporate filings for corporate clients, speaking with injured clients with pending worker’s compensation cases, preparing client invoices, editing letters, drafting legal
documents including notices of motion and subpoenas, etc.;
• A willingness to work and think independently, handle confidential information with discretion, and accept responsibility for producing high-quality work;
• Familiarity with legal terminology, electronic filing, and law office protocols and procedures;
• Strong computer skills;
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Adobe Acrobat; and
• Strong writing, proofreading, and formatting skills.
